Mountain Khakis Flannel Lined Original Mountain Pant Review

This fall Mountain Khakis added a Flannel Lined version of the Original Mountain Pant. You still get the durability of the 10.4 ounce 100% cotton Duck Canvas, with the added warmth (and comfort) of a fleece lining. From a distance you can’t tell the different between the Original Mountain Pant without the lining and the one with the lining. You do notice a big difference when you’re wearing them. Usually on cold mornings I can feel the cold air on my legs. I didn’t feel that with the Flannel Lined Original Mountain Pant.

Flannel Lined Pants on the Trail

Here I’m testing out the flannel lined pants on a hike near Alta Ski Area. I like how the pants have room to move around. Unlike other flannel lined pants I’ve owned, these fit true to size. There’s no need to size up to make up for the lining.

As I mentioned, these pants provide warmth and mobility. The flannel lining is very comfortable on the skin. I found it even more comfortable to hike in these pants, than in the un-lined version of the Original Mountain Pant.

Flannel Lined Pants Front

Here the flannel lining is pictured. It’s sewn in so it does bunch up or move independent of the canvas exterior. I made the pants extra soft by washing them inside-out. This helps fluff the flannel for an even more comfortable fit. Notice also the triple stitching on the seams, the action gusset in the crotch, and the ribbon around the waist.

Flannel Lined Pants Zipper

Here you can see the rivet metal button featuring the Mountain Khakis logo. There’s also ribbon next to the zipper for ease of use and less wear on the canvas fabric.

Flannel Lined Pants Rear

These pants have a triple stitched rear seam, and reinforced fabric and stitching on the pockets. If you work outdoors in the winter, these would be a great addition to your wardrobe.

Two-Ply Fabric Cuff

The reinforced cuff creates a longer wear life for the pant. The lining doesn’t extend beyond the lower cuff, so you will not fray the flannel. You can fit the cuff of the pant over a boot.
